Strategic planning is the process by which an organization defines its philosophy or vision, its values and goals. The process of strategic planning is critical to organizational success.

Strategic planning:

• Clarifies overall purpose, desired results and defines direction
• Assists in the development of strategic goals or priorities
• Defines the actions necessary to develop an implementation plan to achieve goals or priorities
• Provides a tool for decision making to allocate resources to pursue strategy
